Ipswich finally ended their 15-match winless run against the Shrimpers on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over bogey team Watford thanks to a late Michael Chopra winner.
Colchester were held to a 2-2 draw at the Community Stadium last night against Portsmouth. Pompey were without a whole squad prior to the new campaign but have brought in loads of players since.
Essex rivals Southend fell to the second defeat of the season away to Oxford United and remain bottom of the table. Oxford beat the Shrimpers 2-0 for another night to forget.
