Brown to compete for place at Town

New signing Jason Brown says he's at Portman Road to provide competition for Scott Loach and Arran Lee-Barrett rather than just as cover for Town's other two keepers. Brown, 30, joined Ipswich on a contract until the end of the season earlier today.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Brown said: “I’ve come to provide competition rather than just cover and I think every footballer has that same mentality.

“We’re fortunate at Ipswich that we’ve got two good keepers in Loachy and Arran and the training session we’ve had today under [keeper-coach] Malcolm [Webster] has been really encouraging.

“I’m just delighted to have been given this opportunity at Ipswich and I’m looking to give it my best shot.

“It’s a great club and I’m delighted to be here. The move came a bit out of the blue but I’m here now and looking forward to the challenge.”
