Southend United have confirmed that they have parted company with boss Paul Sturrock. In a statement, Ron Martin, chairman at the clu1b, stated that results had been poor and would name Sturrock's replacement on Monday (today). BBC Essex understands Phil Brown is first choice to replace the Scottish man.

The Shrimpers' next league matches are away to Bradford (March 29th) and Fleetwood at home (April 1st) before the Wembley cup final. The Shrimper are currently ninth, six points behind Rotherham in seventh.
Martin said Southend's recent results against 'relatively low' teams including Accrington, Barnet, Wimbledon, Plymouth and Torquay have not been good.
