Colchester United met AFC Sudbury this evening with the visitors fielding a senior squad that easily outplayed the hosts, winning 5-0.

Colchester took a 2-0 lead into half-time, thanks to two strikes from Szmodics but AFC keeper Dan Heath made some good saves in the opening 10 minutes. Kem Izzet pulling the strings in the Colchester midfield.

After being substituted on, Roberts made an instant impression, slotting home at the near post after being set up by Izzet for 3-0 to the visitors.

Bean slid in to round off a fine move from right to left, finishing Massey's cross for Colchester's fourth.

And O'Toole burst out of midfield to curl a good strike into the bottom corner to make it five.

The crowd that numbered 344 went away having witnessed, as expected a win for the visitors, but the home fans saw plenty to give then hope in the coming months.
