Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy could switch Loach (below, right) for Dean Gerkin. |
The Blues boss has deployed a 4-4-2 formation throughout his time at Portman Road and has generally named an unchanged line-up whenever possible. Goalkeeper Scott Loach could be dropped in place of fellow keeper Dean Gerkin ahead of the match at St Andrews.
Loach made a blunder as he let in Leeds' second goal on Saturday. |
Loach apologised to his team-mates after letting Ross McCormack’s winner under his body, with summer signing Dean Gerken waiting in the wings.
“Everybody wants to know if I’ll be keeping faith in this player or that player,” said McCarthy, when asked about Loach.
“I said to the players beforehand that I believe in having faith in them because we’ve played well enough. But once you’ve lost three out of four, it maybe changes that thought process slightly. For all of them.
“A change of formation might be good but I’m not going to go out and sign anyone – I’ve got to address things with the players that I’ve got. He (Loach) comes in (to the changing rooms) afterwards and holds his hands up,” said the Blues boss.
“He’s got no option because he should have stopped it. If he’d have blamed a deflection we might have disagreed.
“I’m not one for pointing the finger at players but wow! It’s as blatant as that.”
