Philip Brown's second half goal cancelled out Ryan Swallow’s first half strike for Sudbury in a 1-1 draw at the MEL Group Stadium on Wednesday night.
Sudbury opened the match positively, with an early shot in the opening minute by Blake Kicks blocked by Iron keeper Walker.
The Yellows took the lead in the 12th minute with a goal from striker Ryan Swallow. 1-0
The Iron also had their fair share of chances – with Philip Brown taking a shot that was cleared by Benham after 18 minutes.
Lee Owen was involved in a clash with Braintree’s Pullen, resulting in the Iron player to leave the field. Regan Farley-Hearn replaced George Pullen after 27 minutes.
Blake Kicks was then pulled down by a Braintree player resulting in referee Matt Oakley awarding a free-kick close to goal. Harlop took the kick, with the ball curling wide past Walker’s goal.
After 42 minutes, Shane Benham was pulled down by Braintree’s Okwute, resulting in a goalkick for Avenell.
Sudbury’s final shot of the half came from Kicks in added time, from promising build-up play with his shot blocked by Iron keeper Walker.

On the 47th minute, AFC’s Daw was involved in a clash with a Braintree player which resulted in the Sudbury player being replaced by Tom Driscoll after 49 minutes.
On the 57th minute, the Iron deservedly equalised through build-up play meeting Philip Brown who scored from close-range. 1-1
Braintree received a free-kick three minutes later which was taken from Cullen who shot straight at Avenell’s hand for him to easily save.
In the 67th minute, Sudbury had two straight chances easily saved by Iron keeper Walker.
Afterwards, Jordan Brazitis replaced Ryan Kent for Sudbury (67’) before Braintree’s Hughes replaced Moore two minutes later (69’).
Into the final 10 minutes and both sides were pushing themselves for a late winner.
On the 84th minute, a promising play of attack from Sudbury saw Adams head the ball down to Swallow who fired the ball over the bar.
88 minutes in and Swallow setup the ball for Kicks to shoot but was saved by the Iron keeper.
Into the final four minutes and Sudbury kept sending chance after chance into the Iron goal.
Iron’s Hughes collided with an AFC played and had to be taken off the field of play due to a head injury.
Iron’s Walker took the final goal-kick with the referee signalling a draw for both sides.
