Cambridge took the lead after 23 minutes. Sudbury failed to clear build-up play from the U's with Allen shooting at Archer who blocked the ball, and Akintude followed-up the rebound effort to score.
Sudbury received a free-kick after 30 minutes which Shinn took. Cowley collected the ball and his shot was fired straight at U's keeper Norris.
A mistake by Henshaw saw Akintunde free to shoot at goal with Sudbury clearing the loose ball.
Into the second half and AFC made two substitutions throughout the half - Cowley made way for Swatman while Cutts came on to replace Guyon.
Four minutes following the subs, Heath pulled Thompson down inside the penalty area to see the referee award the Yellows a penalty. Daniels took the penalty, and placed it past the U's keeper to draw level.
Forshaw and Baker were subbed on to replace Thompson and Brothers, respectively, for the Yellows.
Two minutes later, on 71, Sudbury keeper Archer pulled down Akintunde, with the referee awarding the match's second penalty, to the U's. Taylor takes the shot the the shot rebounding off the post before it is cleared away by Sudbury.
Forshaw nearly setup Baker before Speller had a shot easily collected by Norris.
The two sides held on throughout to the end of the match to a 1-1 draw with Sudbury playing out some good football.
