Wrexham scored two own goals to hand victory to Braintree, who moved to within a point of the Conference Premier play-off places.
Mark Carrington own goal after 3 minutes gave the Iron an early lead before Dean Well side footed a strike after 21 minutes.
This was followed by two-quickly taken goal from Wrexham, with Johnny Hunt (29') and Jay Harris's (34') goals to draw level going into half-time.
Before Steve Tomassen put into his own net in the second half with Braintree holding on.

This was a game that was a comfortable victory for AFC. Two goals in the first half through Ryan Henshaw and Sam Clarke set them on their way and a block buster from debutant Steve Spriggs settled matters.
Two goals in the first half and one early in the second half saw Sudbury ease to victory over newly-promoted Burnham Ramblers.
The match came ten days after the Yellows knocked Burnham out of the FA Cup.
Henshaw gave the Yellows an early lead after ten minutes, before Sam Clarke's strike ten minutes later doubled the scoreline.
And into the second-half, new signing Stephen Spriggs, on his debut, sealed the points with a stunning goal after 50 minutes.
