AFC Sudbury have been drawn away to either Sleaford Town or Huntingdon Town on Saturday 28th September, in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Sleaford and Huntingdon's match on Saturday was abandoned after 87 minutes with Sleaford 2-1 up following an altercation with a member of the hosts' management team. That led to players from both sides clashing.
Sleaford have requested a personal hearing into the matter which will be held on Wednesday 25th September at Northamptonshire FA but both clubs are waiting to hear on action taken by the FA.
The Sleaford Standard newspaper commented: Sleaford Town’s FA Cup home game against Huntingdon Town turned ugly in the final stages after a ‘melee’ just minutes before the final whistle.
An ambulance was called for two people including the mother of Sleaford Town boss Kris Jones. Neither required hospital treatment.
Sleaford’s press officer Jamie Shaw said the incident took place after one of the visiting side ran through the technical area and there was a coming together as he attempted to take a throw: “We were 2-1 up and life’s peachy when all hell broke loose. One man suffered facial injuries while Jones’ mother was also caught up in what he described as a ‘melee’ as she tried to ‘act peacemaker".
Elsewhere, Chelmsford will travel to Biggleswade Town in the second qualifying FA Cup round on the same date. Biggleswade originally drew 0-0 with Wingate & Finchley on Sunday, then won the replay 4-3 tonight to determine that they will host the Clarets.
