Sudbury Res 4-1 Saffron Walden Res

Three second half goals from AFC Sudbury saw the Yellows beat Saffron Walden Town 4-1 at the MEL Group Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Sudbury took an early lead after 10 minutes when Carl Daw setup Lee Ilford to give the Yellows the lead.
Two minutes after, the Yellows had another good chance – Fisher’s header glancing wide after Chisholm setup the striker.
Walden had two continuous chances in the 22nd and 23rd minutes: first, Murphy’s shot was cleared by AFC’s defenders. Then, a shot from defender Solkom was intercepted by Swallow.
Sudbury then had a good chance to double their advantage in the 35th – a shot from Jackson was blocked with Swallow’s rebound effort was cleared.
The first-half was very even – both sides having chances.

Walden made a substitution as Martin Westcott came off for Ross Laird, on the 56th minute.
Three minutes late (59’), Walden made their second substitution, with Town captain Alex Riches being replaced by Justin Crishall.
In the 61st minute, Sudbury made their first substitution, with goal-scorer Ilfield being replaced by Blake Kicks.
In the 68th minute, Carl Daw crossed in to Andy Fisher who headed the ball in to give the Yellows a two-goal advantage.
Two minutes later, Sudbury extended their lead with substitute Blake Kicks who sent the hosts 3-0 up.
In the 75th minute, Sudbury made their second sub, with Daw, who set up AFC’s second, was replaced by Tom Driscoll.
And three minutes later, Sudbury produced good work which lead up to Swallow tapping AFC’s fourth, after the referee played an advantage, following a Sudbury player being pulled down.
In the 84th minute, Cawtheray came on for Crisell for Sudbury’s third and final substitute of the evening.
As the half wore on, the hosts continued to play many counter-attacks, but were unable to convert their chances.
And in the 87th minute, Saffron took advantage of some poor AFC defending which lead them to score a consolation goal – Graeme Turner with a close range effort following a poor mistake from Sudbury goalkeeper Avenell.
A very entertaining performance as the second-half was played – with Sudbury improving as the half went on
