Chelmsford City Club Statement concerning finance

Chelmsford City have released a statement dating Friday talking about some of the financial aspects at the club recently.

"After a week in which the Club has had to make some enforced changes to the playing budget to fit in line with a current decrease in commercial income, the board wish to reiterate that although the situation is far from ideal, it is being done to ensure the Club’s sustainability in line with the financial prudence and the board said that they would observe it at the last AGM," said the Chelmsford City board.

"This does not represent any form of crisis that might be feared by some supporters.

"It was stated to company members at a meeting at the start of the season that should it look like there was a shortfall in revenue, matters would be reviewed quickly. This has been done with a review of commercial strategy and changes to the budgets. Whilst it is challenging to make cuts during the season the reality is the Club has to find new and innovative ways to increase income while keeping costs manageable; this is exactly what the Club is doing, as it also continues to work with supporters to try and improve and engage in other potential areas.

"As a consequence it requires the Club to realistically change its aims and objectives for this season and we hope that supporters fully appreciate this and adjust their expectations accordingly. While it is not where we want to be, the board fully appreciates the re-building process that is being undertaken by our manager, Dean Holdsworth, who is committed entirely to the task in hand and we ask all supporters to please continue to show support to the Club, management team and players by getting behind them in this period of transition.

"The board hope that all supporters understand the difficult decisions that have had to be made in the short term, and that supporters will continue to support the Club through these times in knowing that the Club’s long term stability will always be the priority."
