Matchday report - 12.10.2013

Colchester 1-1 Walsall
Att: 2,945
The final kick of the game saw Andy Taylor's free kick rescue Walsall a point against Colchester.

The visitors started brightly and both James Baxendale and Craig Westcarr went close to opening the scoring early on.

However it was the hosts who took the lead with a fine strike by Freddie Sears from the edge of the box.

Colchester seemed to be heading for victory until Taylor's late free-kick snatched a point for Walsall deep into stoppage-time.

Burton Albion 0-1 Southend
Att: 2,555
Freddie Eastwood's injury time strike earned Southend victory as they beat 10-men Burton Albion 1-0.

Burton keeper Jordan Pickford produced a fine save to deny Cauley Woodrow. The hosts had striker Blly Kee sent off for a second bookable offence after a late tackle on Coker.

Alex MacDonald went close with a header and substitute Matt Palmer hit a post as Burton pushed for an opener.

But late on substitute Eastwood struck with a deflected 15-yard shot that bounced in off a post.

Nuneaton 1-1 Braintree
Att: 1,031
Streete's first goal for Nuneaton earned a point against Braintree and secured their third consecutive draw.

Matt Paine put the visitors in front when he headed in from Alan Massey's cross.

James Armson should have drawn the hosts level but somehow missed the target with the goal at his mercy.

However, Nuneaton levelled just after the hour mark through Streete's tidy finish.
