Matchday preview - 25.10.2013

Team news and match preview ahead of today's football clashes involving FANbase teams.

Bolton v Ipswich
Reebok Stadium - 3pm Kick-off - 26th October 2013

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy expects goalkeeper Dean Gerken to be available for Saturday’s trip to Bolton, but he does have injury concerns over Daryl Murphy.

Gerken was substituted before half-time during last weekend’s defeat by Burnley after sustaining a dead leg but was back on the training field yesterday and should make the trip to the Reebok.

Murphy, however, has a slight groin strain and may require a late fitness test.

Colchester v Peterborough
Weston Holmes - 3pm Kick-off - 26th October 2013

Cian Bolger is in line for his debut as out-of-sorts U's face former Championship side Peterborough United.

The centre-back signed on Thursday on a one-month loan deal from Bolton to provide welcome defensive cover for a U's side who are winless in their previous 12 matches.

David Wright sustained a hamstring injury late on in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury and joins fellow defenders Tom Eastman, Josh Thompson (both ankle), Mason Spence (hamstring) and Danny Pappoe on the sidelines.

Striker Freddie Sears picked up a hamstring problem of his own in the first half at the Greenhous Meadow and is a doubt along with Jabo Ibehre, who missed out altogether against the Shrews, while Drey Wright (knee) and Sanchez Watt (thigh) continue to miss out.

Newport County v Southend
Rodney Parade - 3pm Kick-off - 26th October 2013

Southend are without suspended pair Mark Phillips and John White.

The Shrimpers saw their appeal against centre-back Phillips' dismissal against Dagenham on Tuesday dismissed and he now starts a three-match ban.

Full-back White serves an automatic one-match ban having collected his fifth booking of the season during the 1-0 defeat in midweek.

Freddy Eastwood is still not 100 per cent but continues to play on as he manages a troublesome knee injury while fellow striker Craig Reid will have his troublesome ankle assessed ahead of the game.

Gosport Borough v Chelmsford
Privett Park - 3pm Kick-off - 26th October 2013

Chelmsford will turn their attention to Saturday’s visit to Gosport Borough after the midweek defeat at Farnborough.

Promoted Boro have five points on the board as the league currently stands. Their only league victory to date came at home against Tonbridge Angels, with the final score being 2-0. However, during midweek, Boro eased past Petersfield Town in a 6-0 drubbing in the Russell Cotes Cup in midweek so enter the match with a lot of confidence.

The Clarets, meanwhile, will be looking to build on the two back-to-back wins over Bath City and Eastbourne Borough that were obtained prior to the defeat at Farnborough.
