Two late second-half goals saw AFC Sudbury Reserves/Under 21s beat Stowmarket Town 5-1 at the MEL Group Stadium.

AFC made a promising attack in the fifth minute, as Crisell crossed the ball towards Fox with the ball eventually cleared by Stowmarket.

Town had a chance, a minute after, as good play saw B. Licence have a shot cleared by the Sudbury defence.

The Yellows took the lead in the twentieth minute. A good ball was sent down the wing, furthest from the seated stand as Fisher’s cross met skipper Steve Adams who fired the ball home past keeper Goodwin.

In the 31st minute, Stowmarket had a good chance, as Nogueira’s shot was blocked by a Yellows defender.
But three minutes later (34’), Swallow had to be taken off after he picked up an ankle injury, which saw him replaced by Kicks.

On the forty-third minute, debutant Ben Golding, who signed from Debenham LC this week, scored his first goal to give the Yellows a two-nil lead.

HT 2-0

Sudbury had a three-goal lead after 54 minutes, as substitute Kicks hit the ball in from Fisher’s cross.

The visitors shot straight at goal with the first kick of the restart, but AFC keeper Pengelly easily caught the ball.

Stowmarket had an excellent chance to pull a goal back, although Proctor could only hit the crossbar, with AFC keeper Pengelly not moving.

The Gold and Blacks made a substitution, with Tavares replacing Oxborrow in the 64th minute.

In the 72nd minute, Wayne Proctor pulled a consolation goal back for Town following poor defending by AFC. Four minutes later, goalscorer and debutant Ben Golding left the field in place for Antonny Cordeiro before Dan Statham was booked.

In the 89th minute, Bailey’s cross met the goalkeeper, whose error put the Yellows 4-1 up.
Following an incident in the away dugout which saw an official sent into the stands, Bailey’s late strike from a corner met the rear of the net.

The result keeps Sudbury Reserves in 12th position on 20 points, but draws them closer to the three teams on 22 points. The Yellows travel to seventh-place Swaffham Town next Saturday.
