Chelmsford City are set to appoint a new manager as a permanent replacement for Dean Holdsworth, who left the club earlier this month tonight.
Chairman Mansell Wallace is to interview the final candidate ahead of a board meeting at the club, where the new man will then be decided. Five candidates have been interviewed with current caretaker boss Kenny Brown among the interviewees.
“We’ve interviewed some very capable managers, any of whom I think could do the job for us,” said club chairman Mansell Wallace. “I think the decision has got to be financially driven, it’s got to be one that the club can afford in the present climate.
“The full board will be meeting this evening and after that a decision will be taken. Kenny is still in contention, he’s not been ruled out, but we’ve got to look at the situation going forward and get the right man to take control of the team.”
“The new manager will be announced tonight, subject to him accepting,” he added. “We’ve interviewed five people, not just managers, but with assistants as well, some below, some at our level and some above.
