Ipswich Wanderers were victorious as they knocked AFC Sudbury’s Reserve/Under 21s squad with a 4-0 thumping in the Suffolk Senior Cup.
Due to various county call-ups, manager Dave Walton named a squad which included new signing Tyler Kemp, and second-choice goalkeeper Paul Pengelly.
The first noteworthy piece of action saw good build-up play between Thurgood, Brazitis and Fisher unable to shoot towards goal.
But the reigning champions took an early lead after 13 minutes as Luke Read fired Wanderers past Yellows keeper Pengelly.
Six minutes later and Ipswich’s lead was doubled: Myhill crossed the ball towards Remi Garrett who slotted it past keeper Pengelly.
The Yellows had a good chance towards goal, as Brazitis got in a one-on-one situation with visitors’ keeper Bugg blocking the shot. The resulting corner was cleared away.
In the 31st minute, goalkeeper Paul Pengelly kept the Yellows in the game after he produced two excellent saves to keep out visiting striker Myhill twice. Crisell has a chance at the opposing end, soon after, but his shot curved wide.
In the last kick of the half, Read crossed to Ross Myhill who gave Wanderers a 3-0 lead after five-minutes of injury time.
In the 55th minute, Ipswich made the match’s first substitution, as goal scorer Myhill came off for Francis.
In the 64th minute, Sudbury made their first replacement, as Cawtheray went off for Dan Statham, before Brazitis and Last came off for Dan Smith and George Day in a double alteration in the 73rd minute.
In the 77th minute, Pengelly stopped the Yellows from conceding again as he blocked a shot from Jennings.
In the 81st minute, good build-up play saw Day cross towards Thurgood who
In the eightieth minute, Pengelly produced a good block before Kemp put in a superb tackle to stop the visitors from scoring.
But three minutes later, Ipswich made it four-nil, as Garrett produced an astonishing goal from 30-yards out which nobody could block.
It could have been 5-0 but Mallanco could only guide his shot towards the crossbar before Tredray’s rebound effort was blocked by Pengelly, and cleared by the AFC defence.
