Matchday Preview - Sun 29 Dec

Bournemouth v Ipswich - 3pm Kick-off - Goldsands Stadium

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy will be looking for his side to continue their excellent away form when they visit AFC Bournemouth. McCarthy’s side beat Doncaster 3-0 on Boxing Day and are unbeaten away since mid-September.

McCarthy is hoping for that run to continue against the Cherries, who are 15th in the Championship on 28 points, six behind the Blues in seventh, although he stresses that that’s easier said than done.

“More of the same is what we want,” he said. “And we’ll be doing our best to achieve that. But Bournemouth will want to slap us when we go down there."

Kick-off at Goldsands Stadium is 3pm, with coverage on our Live Sport section above.

Colchester v Crewe Alex - 3pm Kick-off - Weston Homes
Joe Dunne will hope to be able to stick with a winning line-up as Colchester prepare to welcome Crewe on Sunday. Dunne watched the U's record the biggest victory of his 15-month reign as they brushed aside Stevenage 4-0 on Boxing Day, registering back-to-back wins following their triumph at Oldham.

The Irishman kept faith with the same starting XI for both matches and will now assess the bumps and bruises within his squad, with captain Brian Wilson substituted late on against Boro.

Fit-again striker Freddie Sears will hope to make the bench as he looks to get minutes under his belt, although the game comes too soon for forwards Gavin Massey and Drey Wright as they look to make their long-awaited comebacks.

Kick-off at the Weston Homes is 3pm, with coverage on our Live Sport section above.

Accrington v Southend - 3pm Kick-off - Crown Ground
Southend boss Phil Brown feels his side's trip to Accrington will be a tough match but wants to get the three points.

“It’s going to be a tough game, back-to-back away games always is. But now we’ve got the three, you want to get the maximum six," said boss Phil Brown.

“That’s not me being greedy, if someone had asked before four might have been a good return, but we’re on three and we’ve got that confidence to go there and make it two out of two."

With four games in the space of nine days, Blues’ squad will be tested. But Brown is pleased with the options he has in his squad.

Southend will assess Luke Prosser after he missed United's 1-0 victory at AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day due to a head injury.

Striker Cauley Woodrow stepped off the bench to score the only goal against the Dons and he is one of several players pushing to start should boss Phil Brown choose to make changes.

Kick-off at the Crown Ground is 3pm, with coverage on our Live Sport section above.
