Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Middlesbrough defender Frazer Richardson has joined Town on a loan deal, keeping him at Portman Road until the end of the season.
Mick McCarthy said: “He’s here, I’m delighted with that, even more so because Nigel Adkins said to me before the game ‘Well done on getting Frazer, he’s a fabulous kid’. He had him for two or three seasons at Southampton.
“I’ve known him a long time, we tried to sign him from Leeds when I was at Sunderland. He’s only 31, he’s out of contract at the end of the year, so he’s with us until the end of the season.
“He wants to get a contract somewhere, it’s fabulous for us and he’s a top lad, I’m delighted with him.
“He knows the score, he’s come down, he knows Chambo’s playing and he wants to come and fight for a slot, which is great for a pro at 31. Fantastic.
Blackpool attempted to sign the defender earlier this week, reports claimed, but the deal collapsed after the Seasiders sacked boss Paul Ince.
McCarthy also confirmed that he'll be available to play for Town against Leeds.
