Ipswich were held to a goalless stalemate, as manager-less Blackpool claimed a draw at Portman Road.
Mick McCarthy felt his side could have won, but it was a scrappy game: "We started really well, had the best chances but didn't take them. The game then developed into a scrap but the conditions were not great.
"We could have won it, but we could have lost it. We probably shaded it, but we didn't play well enough to win the game. They are fighting for their lives and Blackpool have
been on a bad run. But they are fighting for Barry Ferguson and they are no mugs."
David McGoldrick, Town's top goalscorer at 14 goals, headed Town's best opportunity wide in the ninth minute.
Scott Loach, who made his first start since August, made three important saves from Blackpool midfielder Faris Haroun in the two halves.
The final chance of an ultimately disappointing afternoon for Mick McCarthy's men fell to top scorer McGoldrick but he scuffed his shot from 12 yards.

Sanchez Watt was sent off as his Colchester side drew 0-0 with play-off searching Swindon Town.
Conditions in Wiltshire really deteriorated two h
ours before kick off, with heavy rain and gusting winds putting the game in serious doubt, with two pitch inspections
Watt was flashed a red card, by referee Darren Sheldrake, for violent conduct following an altercation with Nathan Thompson on 70 minutes. However, he was on the end of a first-half booking.
"We were actually getting Gavin (Massey) ready in the moment that Sanchez got sent off. Unfortunately, that’s football," admitted boss Joe Dunne.
"But I don’t want to see too many more of that. I don’t want my players to be doing that on a football pitch,” added Dunne.
Ryan Dickson curled a sixth minute free-kick over the bar, but that was the extent of the U’s attacking forays before the break.
Swindon had more joy, playing into the teeth of the wind, and Sam Walker twice made fine saves to deny winger Alex Pritchard midway through the first half.
The second half was even poorer, but the 10-man U’s held on for a late draw.
