Ryman League president Alan Turvey has insisted there can be no extension to the campaign despite the fixture backlog facing some teams.The league season has to be completed on April 26 to allow the play-offs to take place, despite some teams needing to play 23 games.
Turvey said: “The season has to finish on the due date, which is the last play-off date.
“The play-offs are scheduled for the 28th, 29th and 30th of April and then the 3rd, 4th, 5th of May and that affects promotion and all the things that go with it.
“The league season has to finish on April 26, and then we go into the play-offs.
“It is a very difficult situation at the moment, matches are being rescheduled on a daily basis, the clubs have been very co-operative in rearranging matches.
“But there’s no doubt that that people are going to be playing Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.”
And although Turvey admits that situation is going to be difficult, he explained that the interaction with other leagues means things have to be done and dusted by those dates.
“There’s a meeting that will be taking place in early May involving the Conference, the Southern League, the Northern League and the Ryman League together with the FA to allocate the clubs that are to be moved if any have to be moved, where the relegated teams will go,” he added. “All that has to be done on May 7 so there’s not a lot of time.
“So the answer we have to give at the present time is that the stays the same.
“When Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are all filled, then that’s something that has to be dealt with.
“Our AGM is on June 15, but the Football Conference hold theirs on June 6, so they have to send out notices about that.
