Ipswich Town have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Johnny Williams on a 30-day loan deal, while Southend United have signed Sunderland defender John Egan on a one-month emergency loan deal.
Egan will be able to play in Saturday’s game against Wycombe Wanderers while Williams should be available for Town's fixture against Birmingham.
Egan is yet to make an appearance for the Black Cats, but has had three loan spells with the club.
Manager Phil Brown was pleased to have been able to bring in defensive cover: "With Adam Thompson, Luke Prosser, Cian Bolger and Julian Bennett all out injured, we’ve moved as quickly as possible to bring in cover.
"John is the type of defender I like to have in my side, and I’m sure he’ll fit straight in.
“He’s a no-nonsense type of defender but at the same time he can get the ball down and play out from the back.
“John will have a couple of days now to train with us and prepare for the Wycombe game on Saturday.”
The midfielder trained with his new teammates at Playford Road today and could feature against Birmingham at Portman Road at the weekend.
Elsewhere, Williams is scheduled to be at the Portman Road club until the end of March.
The Welsh international scored for Palace’s under-21's against their Ipswich counterparts on Monday.
He put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract in January to stay at Selhurst Park, after impressing in their promotion-winning season last term.
However he hasn’t started a Premier League game for the Eagles this campaign and boss Tony Pulis is happy to let him team up with the Blues.
FANbase reported that Ipswich were interested in the Welsh youngster earlier today.
