Southend legend wins FL Award

Embedded image permalinkSouthend United legend Frank Banks has won the Unsung Hero Award at the 2014 Football League Awards.

Frank has been connected with Southend United for over 55 years, and beat Norman Rimmington, Barnsley's Assistant Kitman, and Fred Woolven of  at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Frank has been a player, reverse team manager, assistant manager, first-team manager and coach at Southend United, and became the club’s first ever Community Officer.

He made nearly 100 appearances as a player for Southend United, either side of a hugely successful spell with Hull City, and today continues his work with the Community department voluntarily.
