Southend United’s development side beat an Ipswich Town side 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon, in a behind closed doors friendly at Town's Playford Road.
Ryan Auger scored the only goal of the game, against a very experienced Ipswich side.
Frazer Richardson, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Jay Tabb, Carlos Edwards and Paul Taylor all played for the hosts.
Blues had Paul Smith, Luke Prosser and Lee Barnard play in the game, with Prosser coming through an hour, and Barnard playing 50 minutes.
Graham Coughlan said: “It was another good performance, especially we had a young side up against an experienced Ipswich team.
“We played some really good football, especially in the first-half. The shape and understanding for a young side was good and there were a number of promising performances.”
