Ryman League see record spectators attend fixtures

The Ryman League has seen an increase in attendances at matches, with an increase of 80,000 supporters spectating matches in the divisions, figures show

Figures show a total of 380,470 fans visited games during the season 2013-14, an increase on crowds seen in the past seven seasons.

The Ryman Premier saw an increase in 54.8% with crowds in all three divisions in August at the highest with 58,029 fans attending, with a similar record towards the close season.

In total, 207,634 fans were recorded at top flight fixtures, 58,395 in Ryman North and 114,441 in Ryman South.

The biggest gate in Ryman North saw 359 attend AFC Sudbury for their local derby game against Needham Market.

Ryman League Chairman and President Alan Turvey told the league website: "The figures are a testament to the hard work of our clubs and the success they are having in working in their local communities to attract news fans and encourage existing supporters to back them.

"There is always more that can be done but we are absolutely delighted with the statistics rom the season just gone and are sure our clubs will be aiming to build on the biggest crowds we have seen in years next season as they continue to go from strength to strength."
