Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy and assistant boss Terry Connor have signed new three-year deals with the club. The pair’s existing contracts were due to end next summer.
The 55-year-old Blues manager was delighted with the signing: “I’m looking forward to it and I’m looking forward to the new season, forget the new contract. We’ll be here for another three years, hopefully!
“Progress has been made and I want to continue making progress. I know the players have all come back. They trained on Friday, they had fitness testing and they were all better than last year, so I think they’re looking forward to it and we want another good season.”
The Blues manager joined Town in November 2012, where he signed a 2 and a half year contract at Portman Road, guiding Blues away from relegation.
“It was an easy decision to make, I love it here,” he added. “I’ve enjoyed it, we’ve made progress since coming in in 2012, November 1st. Gradual progress has been made and I’m looking forward to making greater strides this season with me and TC and the rest of the lads.
“There’s a good feel about the place, I enjoy working with Marcus, he leaves me alone to get on with it and manage the club and pick the team, I get no interference from him, so I’m hoping for another good season.”
