Southend United will begin their first pre-season friendly today, as Phil Brown sends a squad to Essex Senior League champions Great Wakering Rovers.
The two sides have regularly met for pre-season, with the Blues winning the fixture last year 3-2.
Phil Brown confirmed that he will play a different team in each half, with a number of trialists expected to feature.
Southend spent last week training in Spain.

David Batch will take a side down to Diss, which will introduce the new players to the AFC supporters.
AFC Sudbury Reserves, under the management of Danny Laws and Dave Cannon, beat Bury St Edmunds-based club Sporting 87 1-0.
