McCarthy told the club site: “I have spoken to Woody and he’s available now to go out on loan or to join a club permanently. He needs to be out there playing games.”
The London-born midfielder joined Town in January 2013, and has only made 10 starts and 10 sub appearances, scoring twice for the Blues.
Elsewhere, striker Jack Marriott has joined League Two Carlisle United on a month’s loan after spending last season on loan at Conference side Woking.
Midfielder Byron Lawrence is training with Colchester United and is set to feature for their U21s at Sheffield United this afternoon.
McCarthy says free agent Darren Ambrose is currently training at Playford Road with the squad, alongside Jack Collison:
“It’s not a trial or anything like that. It’s just like Jack Collison, who is also with us."
UPDATE: Rotherham United confirmed the signing of midfielder Anthony Wordsworth from Ipswich Town on Friday 22nd.
