PREVIEW: AFC Sudbury Res v Braintree Town Res (Thurlow Nunn First Division)

AFC Sudbury Reserves will look to make it five games unbeaten, as they host Braintree Town Reserves, in the Thurlow Nunn First Division, at the Wardale-Williams Stadium (3pm KO).

The Yellows, currently 14th, earned a good away point on Wednesday evening, as they drew 2-2 away at Woodbridge Town, while they beat Stowmarket 2-1 away last Saturday.

This afternoon's visitors are Braintree Town Reserves, who beat Needham Reserves 2-0 at home (Stoneylands, Melford) last Friday, in their last fixture, and sit 13th in the league table.

Braintree's boss is Ross McPherson, who is also a team coach at Tottenham Hotspur, holding a "UEFA B" licence.

The two sides have met twice this season, with both sides winning once: Braintree won a league tie 1-0 at the start of the season at Stoneylands, as a solo goal from Reece Sayers confirmed the win.

However, Sudbury got payback on that results, as they thrashed the Iron 5-1, in a cup tie at the Wardale-Williams Stadium, under Ross McPherson's first match as Braintree boss.

Danny Laws could have a strong side available to him today - with many first team regulars back from suspension and available to play at the first team's trip to Thurrock (Ryman North, 3pm).

Louis Byers will be reporting at the Wardale-Williams Stadium from 2pm for FANbase - Updates on Twitter: @FANbaseBlog.

An extract from Braintree Town's fan forum says that they feel the match will be even.
