AFC Sudbury Reserves complete their Thurlow Nunn First Division league season this afternoon, as they host Dereham Town Reserves, at the Wardale-Williams Stadium (k/o 3pm).
While their final position will not determine anything, it could be confirmed as another great season for the development of Sudbury's youth.
AFC go into today's fixture on the back of a 2-0 defeat away at promotion searching Saffron Walden, in front of 195 spectators. Winning four from their previous seven, they look to be in good form, going into this afternoon's fixture, with that heavy 7-0 defeat against Melford now a memory that seems to be put behind them.
Dereham Reserves will travel to Brundon Lane on the back of a 2-1 home win over March Town, last Saturday. That has been the Magpies' only win in their previous seven matches.
Dereham are most likely to remain 15th, since Needham Market, who occupy 16th place, are behind by 20 GD 'points'.
Last season, Sudbury finished in 16th position after 36 games with 32 points.. 10 wins, 2 draws and 24 defeats was the outcome. They scored 49 goals, and conceded 114 goals (final goal difference of -65), in the league.
This season, after 35 games, AFC have won 9, drawn 6 and lost 20, and sit on 33 points. They currently have a goal difference of -19, and have made the First Division cup final, which they will play out on Friday evening.
"I feel this has been an improved season... less defeats, less heavy defeats, but the majority of the squad have been called up to the first team throughout the season. Many players, even to the age of 16, were called up during the season, who have proved themselves against senior sides. Congrats to the team, and good luck to them in the final few matches"
