Kemal Izzet scored against his former side, as Needham Market beat a Colchester youth team 2-0.

Izzet converted a penalty against the U's, while Sam Newson struck for the Ryman North champions.

Southend continued pre-season preparations for the new season, as they beat Ryman Premier side Canvey Island 4-0.

Jason Williams put the League One side ahead, as he received the ball from David Worrall's chip, before Jack Bridge doubled Southend's lead, two minutes later.

Williams bagged his second of the match, as he headed home from Myles Weston's cross, prior to the interval.

Ryan Leonard had two decent chances well blocked by home keeper Jake Larkins.

Substitute Jack Payne made an instant impact, as he slotted home in the bottom corner, midway in the second period, as he scored Southend's fourth to confirm the win.
