Colchester United have signed former Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan on a free transfer.
The Irishman was released by Premier League side Palace earlier this summer, having been part of the side that won promotion from the Championship, in 2013.
The 27-year-old central midfielder has signed a deal that will see him remain at Colchester until January 2016.
U's boss Tony Humes was delighted to have secured Garvan's services, admitting he will bring quality to the Weston Homes club.
Garvan is expected to be available for United's game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday, subject to completion of paperwork.
Garvan started his career at Irish side Home Farm, before he joined Ipswich Town in 2005. After five years at Portman Road, he moved to Palace, before having loan deals away at Millwall and Bolton Wanderers, throughout 2014.
