PREVIEW: AFC Sudbury Res vs Long Melford

AFC Sudbury Reserves focus on cup action tonight, as they take on higher-league side Long Melford, in the first round of the Thurlow Nunn League Cup.

Date: Tuesday 13th October 2015
Competition: Thurlow Nunn League Cup
Kick-Off: 7.45pm
Location: Wardale-Williams Stadium, Sudbury

Charlie Gilbert's tenth goal of the season, and a stunning strike from Ross Henry were not enough for Sudbury's Reserves, when they lost 3-2 at home to Ely City on Saturday.

Melford, promoted from the First Division last season to the Premier Division, have had a mixture of results in the division. Sitting fifth, they have won six games, and lost six games in the league.

The two sides met 3 times last season. The two league meetings ending 3-0 and 7-0 to the Stoneyland club, while AFC won the League Cup first round match 2-0, last season.

A minute's silence will be held prior to kick-off tonight, in memory of former AFC Sudbury and Long Melford club friend, Clive Mumford, who passed away earlier this week.

There are several links between the two clubs, with several Melford players previously playing for Sudbury: Defenders Steve Adams and Steve Chisholm, midfielders Daniel Swain, Daniel Smith and Jake Jackson have played for both clubs.
