Thurlow Nunn First Division: AFC Sudbury Res 1-0 Dereham Town Re
An early goal saw AFC Sudbury Reserves on their way to a 1-0 victory over Dereham Town Reserves, on Saturday.
It was Dereham who started the stronger of the two sides,
with Craig Bussons setting up Ryan Fuller on goal, with an effort deflected
away for a corner, which was cleared by AFC.
Craig Bussons was played through on goal, in the fifth minute, but he fired the ball wide of Louis Johnson’s goal.
The Yellows took the lead in the sixth minute, when Danny Bloomfield set up Bradley Beevis, who neatly struck the ball in the back of the net.
Toby Mitchell made a run down the left wing and played the ball into the path of Bradley Beevis, who crossed the ball into the box, which was claimed by Magpies goalkeeper Alexander Jarvis.
Brad Beevis could have had a second goal, in the eleventh minute, when he narrowly headed the ball over the crossbar.
Dereham could have been level, moments later, as Matthew Cook crossed the ball into the box, towards Seb Bialasik, who volleyed the ball straight at Louis Johnson; the AFC goalkeeper calmly catching the effort.
The home side had a good spell in the 16th minute, and Beevis chipped the ball towards Ryan McNicholas, but the AFC player was marked offside.
Although moments after, the Yellows survived a scare as Craig Bussons had a high effort on goal, which deflected off an AFC player, only for the ball to bounce off the top of the crossbar, before Sudbury cleared the danger.
The Yellows felt they should have earned a penalty, midway through the half, when Beevis appeared to be fouled on the edge of the box by Josh Morley. However, the referee waved away the AFC calls.

Jarvis, as he fired an effort straight at the shot-stopper.
In the 38th minute, the Yellows won a corner as Beevis had an effort deflected away by Liam Clayton. The corner was crossed in towards the box, with the ball reaching Ryan McNicholas, who headed over the bar.
On the stroke of half-time, Beevis had yet one more effort on goal from close range, but the strike was blocked by Alex Jarvis, who fell down injured.

The first noteworthy effort of the second period saw Ollie Dunlop strike at goal, with his effort curving past Alex Jarvis’s goal, while Harry Seal had an effort caught by Jarvis, moments after.
Beevis did well as he weaved in and out of the visiting defenders, and saw an effort from outside the box blocked by Josh Morley.
Ollie Dunlop had an excellent strike in the 55th minute, as he curled a ball towards goal, but his effort flew narrowly wide of the goal.
A minute after, Ryan McNicholas had a good effort deflect wide for a corner. The corner was cleared by Dereham, who produce a counter-attack, with Seb Bialasik running the majority of the field, under pressure from Toby Mitchell. The Dereham player fired the ball towards goal, but Harry Seal was on hand to head the ball away.
Moments after, Ollie Dunlop had visiting goalkeeper Alex Jarvis at full stretch, as the ball was tipped over the bar.
Louis Johnson kept the Yellows in the match, and he calmly collected a Ryan Fuller strike, in the 64th minute.
The Norfolk side made their first substitute in the 64th minute, as Aaron Attree was replaced by Liam Upton.
The visitors refused to give up, and continued to press in search of an equaliser: Ryan Fuller’s effort, from Seb Bialasik’s build-up play was smacked wide.
However, the hosts continued to dominate the match: Brad Beevis crossed the ball towards Ryan McNicholas, who played Ollie Dunlop through on goal, but the AFC youngster could only shoot straight at Jarvis.
Dereham’s second change saw Craig Bussons replaced by Connor Green (73’).
Ryan Fuller kept Louis Johnson at his toes, when the Dereham player fired an angled shot towards goal, but Johnson dived to his left to claim the ball.
A first alteration for AFC saw Sam Mills replace Bradley Beevis (76’), before Dereham’s final substitute saw Stuart Garner replaced by Will Sainsbury-Logan (78’).
McNicholas made a good solo run down the left hand wing for the hosts, after winning the ball from midfield, but he was unable to score, in the 81st minute.
Minutes after, Danny Laws made a change for the hosts – Ollie Dunlop, who played a good match, was replaced by Reece White.
Alfie Carroll was booked for a foul, which saw the visitors earn a free-kick. The ball was played into Matthew Cook, who fired the ball over the crossbar.
The Yellows had one last attempt to extend their lead in the closing stages as they won a free-kick.
Ollie Peters played the ball short to Danny Bloomfield, who had a cross deflected away. The resulting throw-in was played out by Dereham for a goal-kick.
