AFC Sudbury Reserves were knocked out of the Suffolk Senior Cup as they lost 2-1 to neighbours Cornard United in the Suffolk Senior Cup Quarter-Finals.
The ‘Ards took the lead in the 14th minute when Romario Dunne finished past Louis Johnson, from Luke Payne's cross.
Straight from the kick-off, the Yellows looked for a way back into the match; James Baughurst had a low-range shot saved by Colin Athey.
Minutes after, Cornard’s Tommy Robinson smashed the crossbar with a long-range effort, with James Clayden’s rebound effort blocked.
United extended their lead in the 21st minute, as Tommy Robinson smashes home a stunning goal, outside the box, which flies into the top-right corner.
The home side got back into the match, as Bradley Beevis fired a shot at a tight angle home past Athey on 24’, to make it 1-2.
Skipper Kyran Clements was unlucky not to finish his effort, after he was fed the ball from a free-kick – striking the ball just wide of goal.
Just past the half-hour mark, Sudbury’s Brad Beevis has a long-range strike just float over the crossbar.
A good one-two between Kyran Clements and James Axcell saw Clements rush forward and deliver the ball into the box towards Danny Bloomfield, who struck an effort at Colin Athey.
The ‘Ards continued to pressurise Sudbury, and had a corner saved by Louis Johnson, in thelast
noteworthy effort of the half.

Joe Wright saw a cross blocked by Jack Marshall, after Alfie Carroll’s good work. Carroll saw a shot, several moments after, fly over the bar.
Both sides made substitution in the 63rd minute. Joe Wright was replaced by Ollie Peters for the home side. Luke Payne was replaced by Ezra Drann for Cornard.
On 70’, Alex Dunne was introduced to the field, replacing James Clayden.
In the 75th minute, Cornard’s Jack Marshall was forced to leave the field after picking up an injury – he was replaced by Liam Murley.
Brad Beevis went in search for a second goal for the home side, but his effort went out for a corner. Sudbury looked to have scored from the corner as Alfie Carroll headed the ball home, only for the goalkeeper to clear the effort off the line.
Cornard’s Thomas LePage saw an effort blocked, before Sudbury broke free towards the other end, with Kyran Clements crossing the ball into the box, but was deflected away. The resulting throw in was played to Clements, who crossed the ball towards Charlie Gilbert, but the effort was blocked.
The home side continued to push for a late winner; Charlie Gilbert’s free-kick in the closing moments of injury time was delivered in towards Louis Johnson, who headed the ball just wide of Colin Athey’s goal.
