AFC Quintet feature in Suffolk U18s Victory

AFC Sudbury's Stefano Mallardo, Tyler French, James Baughurst, Wayne Blackman and James Axcell featured in the Suffolk Under-18s side that beat their Norfolk counterparts 3-2, on Thursday evening.

Ollie Dunlop, also of AFC Sudbury, was an unused substitute as AFC assistant manager Andy Reynolds saw his side edge closer to winning the East Anglian Counties Championship title at Kirkley and Pakefield FC.

James Axcell gave Suffolk a half-time lead with a well worked goal on 23 minutes, with Bury's Ryan Yallop doubling his side's lead, shortly after the break.

However, two quick-fire goals saw Norfolk quickly equalize through Robbie Lingford, and an own-goal, but Braintree's Luke Mallet put Suffolk back in front, with eleven to play. Norfolk almost won it at the death, but late efforts were ruled offside.

Suffolk U18s: Philp, Yallop, Gardner, Baughurst, French, Mallardo, Mallett, Blackman, Nyadzayo, Mrozek, Axcell. Subs: Shulver, Healey, Garrod, Knight, Dunlop
