Southend have signed Cypriot defender Jason Demetriou and midfielder Jermaine McGlashan on two-year contracts from July 1st.Demetriou is a English right-back who started his career at Leyton Orient, before moving to Cypriot club AEK Larnaca. He transferred to Anorthosis Famagusta in 2013, before moving back to England, and playing for Walsall.
The 28-year-old defender has made 28 appearances at international level for Cyprus, qualifying through his parents' Greek-Cypriot roots.
London-born McGlashan joins the Blues after being released from Gillingham this summer. The winger started his career at non-league sides Tooting & Mitcham, Staines Town and Kingstonian.
The 28-year-old has also featured for Bracknell Town, Raynes Park Vale, Merstham, Ashford Town and Aldershot.
He has Football League experience from playing at Cheltenham Town, and the Gills.
