Court date set following February incident at Sudbury

A court date has been set for a former Redbridge FC player who allegedly injured an AFC Sudbury player, following a football match in February.

The player, from East London, elbowed defender Ryan Henshaw and broke his nose during the match on February 27th.

He went on to 'abuse' spectators at the Wardale-Williams Stadium, with Sudbury winning 5-1 that day.

The court date, set for September 5th, will see the player attend Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court and receive charged for three offences – assault by beating, using threatening or abusive behaviour and criminal damage.

Redbridge did not make any public announcements, but Sudbury urged that they had no issue with the visiting team.

The player involved in the incident left the stadium, prior to the police's arrival, after being sent off by the referee.
