A late goal from Nathan Daw helped Kings Lynn come from behind to beat AFC Sudbury Reserves 2-1, at the Wardale-William Stadium, on Saturday afternoon.
Ollie Peters gave the home side a 1-0 lead, but Chris Ward's first-half injury time strike and Nathan Daw's 87th minute strike saw the Norfolk side run out victorious.
Ollie Dunlop produced a good free-kick in the 10th
minute, but he was unlucky as the ball curved just wide of Luke Pearson’s goal.
AFC took the lead in the 15th minute, as Ollie Peters headed home an excellent
cross, following a good build-up from the home side.
However, the Yellows were forced to make an early changed
when captain Alfie Carroll departed the field after picking up an injury, and
was replaced by Sam Mills (28’).
The visitors saw a free-kick marked offside on 31 minutes,
while Thomas Dettmar blazed a free-kick over the wall, after his original shot
was blocked. Ollie Peters attempted to chip the ball over the goalkeeper, but
the ball flew past the back post.
Kieran Shipp produced a dangerous effort for the visitors,
as he attempted to launch the ball over AFC keeper Curtis Child, with the ball
smashing off the crossbar, and bouncing away from danger.
Toby Mitchell did well to block Nathan Daw’s goal-bound
shot, with the ball deflecting away. The resulting corner was cleared away by
Mitchell.
With the final kick of the half, the Linnets drew level, as Chris
Ward struck the ball home.

The Norfolk visitors looked to took the lead through Jack
Frohawk’s 58 minute free-kick, but the effort was fired over the bar, and no
threat to goalkeeper Curtis Child.
Lynn received a flurry of corners starting in the
sixty-first minute, including one which was headed away well by defender Sam
Mills.
Ollie Dunlop had a good chance for the Yellows, but he was
unlucky as the ball zoomed over the crossbar, while Callum Watson saw an effort
drilled to the right hand side of Luke Pearson’s goal.
But against the run of play, King’s Lynn pushed the ball
forward, and Toby Mitchell was unlucky as he headed the ball into the path of
Nathan Daw, who made no mistake to tuck the ball home past Curtis Child.
Joe Walker’s free-kick late on was claimed by Pearson, as
the home side looked to draw level, but King’s Lynn held on to win. It was the
least that Sudbury deserved, in a match full of enjoyable football.
