A young AFC Academy side produced an excellent 2-1 win over Thurrock Reserves at the Wardale Williams Stadium.
Toby Mitchell headed the Yellows ahead from Hemson's first-half free-kick, before Malaki Linton struck home after the break to give AFC a deserved victory against top-of-the-table Thurrock.
Callum Hemson saw a fifth minute cross held well by the visiting goalkeeper, while Aaron Pengelly saw a free-kick in the eighth minute punched over the crossbar.
Tom Gardiner almost score on his debut, in the 14th minute, as the young player saw his shot roll under the Thurrock keeper and just wide.
Pengelly came close again on 26' but he was unlucky as he guided the ball over the bar.
The Fleet were hit by an injury in the 43rd minute, resulting in a substitution (10 off for 15).
The home side took the lead on the stroke of half-time: Baris Altintop won a free-kick after being fouled by Thurrock's number 15. Callum Hemson sent an excellent ball into the box towards Toby Mitchell who headed home from close range, for his second goal in two games.

Sudbury doubled their lead at the start of the second period, as Malachi Linton calmly slotted past the Thurrock goalkeeper, after good build-up.
The visitors came close on numerous occasions, including a back-heeled shot after 56 minutes.
Ben Judge saw a right footed effort calmly saved by the visiting goalkeeper, while Aaron Pengelly sprinted well down the right wing but saw his effort deflect away.
At the back, Toby Mitchell produced several well-timed tackles to stop the visitors, but Curtis Child was on good form to deny multiple attacks from Thurrock.
The Essex side, in a purple strip, came close in the closing stages of the half, including a free-kick which was headed over. Curtis Child made a magnificent save from Thurrock's 14 as he parried the ball against the crossbar.
Despite a late goal from the visitors in second-half stoppage time, the Yellows held on for the excellent victory over their Essex rivals.
The two sides meet again in the league next Saturday, at Thurrock's South Way ground (kick-off 2pm).
