Report: AFC Sudbury U21s 3-1 Tilbury FC U21s

A strong AFC Sudbury U21s side produced an excellent performance as they beat Tilbury U21s 3-1 at the Wardale-Williams Stadium.

The Essex visitors, in their notable black and white strip, saw an free-kick headed away, with the resulting corner being shot wide, in the opening moments of the match.

The Yellows responded, in the sixth minute, as Alfie Carroll delivered the ball well towards Charlie Gilbert, who saw his cross deflected away.

Sudbury continued to control the match, as Gilbert sent the ball towards Dan Hanson, but he was unlucky as he chipped the ball narrowly over the bar,

Goalkeeper Callum Robinson was called into action in the 18th minute, as he dived to block a Tilbury strike. At the other end, Milo Grimes played Adam Dunnage through on goal, who set up Dan Hanson, but the shot was claimed by the away Goalkeeper.

There were some good defensive plays from the hosts, with Alfie Carroll and Baris Altintop both clearing the ball in one-on-one plays.

Gilbert's effort was claimed by the visiting keeper, as the second half got underway. Tilbury replied instantly with an effort which Robinson picked up.

However, the hosts took the lead in the 47th minute, as Michael Carrigan made a run up the right wing and played the ball to Adam Dunnage at the back post, who volleyed home.

Sudbury doubled their lead in the 58th minute as Callum Fuller struck home in a one-on-one with the Tilbury goalkeeper, with a good finish.

Four minutes later, Sudbury collected their third goal of the afternoon, through Dan Hanson as he slotted past the keeper from close range.

Adam Dunnage was booked following an incident in the 75th minute involving Fuller and a Tilbury player.

The Yellows continued to dominate the half: Gilbert sent the ball wide to Carrigan, who produced a neat cross to Fuller, but the forward saw his header saved by the keeper.

Chances were rare for the visitors, with an 86th minute shot from Tilbury's no10 being sent wide.

The Dockers pulled a goal back, as number 12 converted a close range effort in the 87th minute.

Despite further efforts for both sides in the closing stages, the Suffolk side held on for a comfortable win - by the same scoreline from the reverse fixture back in February.
