Former Burnley winger Michael Kightly has joined Southend United on a free-transfer, on a three-year contract.
The 31-year-old was released by the Premier League side in the summer, and Phil Brown has snatched up the Basildon-born player.
Kightly spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Burton Albion, and returns to the side where he started his professional career.
He joined Southend from non-league Basildon United in 2003, and went on to play for Wolves, Watford and Stoke City, along with non-league stints with Farnborough and Grays Athletic.
