Shrimpers bring in former Norwich defender

Southend United have signed centre-back Michael Turner on a one-year-deal, following his release from Norwich City.

The 33-year-old moves on from the Norfolk club after a five year stint, in which he played Premier League football.

Turner started his career with loan spells at Leyton Orient and Brentford from parent side Charlton.

He went on to play for Brentford, Hull City under Phil Brown and Sunderland. He was part of Hull's side which won the Championship play-off final at Wembley in 2008.

In recent years, he has played on loan at Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday.
